We adopted Levi when he was 3 years old. He’d been rescued from a dog-hoarding situation, and lived in a cage most of his puppyhood. Being a high-energy Border Collie, Levi loves to run, but since we adopted him, he’d been experiencing an extreme level of pain after exercise. Our vet took x-rays and told us that he believes Levi had some kind of accident due to the severity of arthritis in his Lumbar spinal area, and believes Levi’s growth was stunted (poor muscle tone in his hind quarters) due to being cooped up in a cage for such a long period of time. We decided to go the therapeutic route as much as possible, rather than relying on long-term pain management through medication alone. Dr. Kim has been providing adjustments to Levi, and showed us how to stretch and massage Levi’s back and spine. She also recommended hydrotherapy (we discovered he loves to swim!), and it seems Levi is slowly gaining muscle mass and strength in his hind quarters. We have to be careful to not let him run too much, but his quality of life has been much improved with Dr. Kim’s help. We are now very hopeful that Levi will have a long, active, happy life ahead of him!
